Kuselan - First Information Report

Filmbox

Movie's 3rd reel - The one in which Thalaivar comes first!!

I am neither going to write a review nor discuss the scenes here

Just came back home after watching back to back shows here in San Jose. I saw the very first show in IMC6 and the next show in Century Berryessa. Let me pen down a few things about my experience...

-> Very much unlike "Thalaivar" movie. I would recommend people to go to this movie with an open mindset and sure, they'll come back with Thalaivar in their hearts.

-> Probably after "Aarilirundhu Arubadhu Varai", thalaivar has got an opportunity to showcase his acting talents. I mean, a complete exposure on his acting skills.

-> Last 20 minutes is riveting. Nobody moved in the theatre.

-> Am not a person who gets emotional for movies. Even for Thalaivar's movies like Padikkadhavan, Dharmadurai, Annamalai, etc., which has got the best emotional scenes, I was not moved. But, this movie's climax made me cry. (Confession time...)

-> Probably one of the best climaxes I've ever seen after "Anbe Sivam".

-> I bet everyone watching this movie would think about their old friends.

-> Quite obvious that all thalaivar scenes are enjoyable, but the intro is simply mind-blowing. Hats off to P.Vasu for that effort.

-> A complete family entertainer. Like Chandramukhi, this movie is sure gonna pull a lot of ladies crowd.

-> For God's sake, please dont think that am exaggerating - Most of the people cried after watching the climax. Infact, in all theatres, it has been intimated to switch on the lights two minutes later, after the movie is over. Just to give people sometime to wipe off their tears and avoid the embarrasment.

-> No vishk vishk styles, no punch dialogues, no gravity defying stunts, but still Thalaivar scores . Particularly, in the last twenty minutes. I wouldn't say that there is no specific style in this movie, as thalaivar's every gesture is a style itself.

-> Equal credits to Pasupathy, who has done a brilliant job. Probably his career best so far.

-> Very elegant, simple yet powerful perfomance from our super star.

To my fellow fans...
I consider this movie as the best answer to all the critics who question Super Star's acting abilities. Personally, I would always love to watch thalaivar in a larger than life character. But, I never felt disappointed after watching this movie. If thalaivar can amaze you with his awesome energy, punch dialogues and stunts, this is another way he can do so. Perhaps we never imagined that we would get such a brilliant movie without much commercial aspects stuffed in it. This is the time to celebrate such a good movie and be happy that we got a movie to shut the critics' mouth.

To Thalaivar...
Thalaiva! Thanks for doing this cameo before "ROBO" and giving us an opportunity to let others know that your fans don't just enjoy your ususal formula films, but also adore a brilliant flick of this kind from you. After watching this movie, am sure all true fans of yours would feel proud to be your fan, just like me.

kalkura gowri.. potti still really super.. some thing which i cannot accept is "Hats off to P.Vasu". The most rejected fellow. He could do nothing of his own. Why have u not commented about our super actor Prabhu?

I am watching the movie today. Will again come here to comment on our statements. Till then bye.

Gowri, this is a honest review and agree with you that you need to go in thiniking like a non Rajini film but comes back with Rajini all over.

I do not agree that he acted well in this after Arilirundhu Arubadhu varai,it is a myth created by some people that he is only for style and not a good actor, where as the fact is he lets his acting abilities visible in every film including Shivaji(The scene when he surrenders his car is one eg)Dalapathi, annamalai.
He is a very good actor, you need to be a good actor before you can entertain and Rajini is one such.

The problem with Kuselan is the hype given by the makers which by default forced the fans to go in with a full fledged Rajini movie mood, the only saving grace was Super Star himself saying at he launch that he is only 25%,that was a honest statement.

Hi Gowri...

Good review da...

I watched Special show in the morning today... And I got ticket from my friend for the night show as well... So Im going to see thalaivar twice today...

Its Enjoyable Movie... Rajini melting hearts with his outstanding performance at the climax... After Thalapathy, this movie has given opportunity to Thalaivar to show his acting potential...

One thing is, if Ilayaraja or ARR had composed for this movie, this climax would never ever go-out from the mind of the people...

Let all vayitherichal dogs bark... Soon they will be vanished in the dark...

we will enjoy our super hero...

Long live super star...
